Description
Located in Georgetown, Delaware, this historic railroad station depot was a part of the Delaware Coast Line Railroad. Through a long history, the most recent change came when the Georgetown Railroad Station re-opened in May of 2014 following a devastating fire a few years before. The original station was completed in 1892 and served as a passenger station until 1949 (when automobiles and buses caused passenger train ridership in the are to decline).
A portion of the facility serves as a museum, which is located on the first floor. Historic artifacts from the station in its heyday are on display in glass enclosures. However, the entirety of the Georgetown Train Station, itself, is what attracted this photographer's eye. In this photograph, a late-day sun washes the building with a warm, mellow light, reminiscent of days gone by...
If you are (or know) a train hobbyist, this print would make a wonderful gift or wall decor. Where would you put it - or to whom would you gift it?
