The Indian River Inlet joins the Rehoboth Bay and the Indian River Bay with the Atlantic Ocean just north of Bethany Beach, DE. This fabulous bridge, the Indian River Bridge over the inlet, allows traffic to flow north and south along Route 1's Coastal Highway, connecting several beach resort towns from Ocean City in Maryland to Rehoboth Beach and Lewes in Delaware.
This beautiful example of bridge architecture, with its towering stanchions or towers, is the centerpiece of the Delaware Seashore State Park. This is a favorite beach area used by thousands upon thousands of fishermen, campers and beach-goers all year 'round.
