Description
Here is a portrait-style photograph of one of the Assateague Island Wild Horses, Mieke’s Noe’lani, meaning Mieke’s beautiful girl from heaven. She is often referred to as The Princes but the Assateague Island National Seashore uses the code, N2BHS-AIO, to refer to Mieke's Noe'lani, which means, Mieke's beautiful girl from heaven.
One does not usually get to see the Wild Ponies this close and at this angle. Bill Swartwout Photography captured this photograph on a drizzly day in winter - which shows the full, protective coat of this horse that lives in the wild. She and her band of "wild ponies" roam the Maryland portion of Assateague Island from the Virginia line in the south up to the Ocean City, Maryland, Inlet.

Bill, fantastic details of the horse's face and all the overall fluffy hair.
Bill Swartwout replied:
Thank you, Robin. That fluffy hair is her winter coat - photographed in late winter, 2018
